Reasons For Foot Pain

The foot is an important part of the body as it controls the amount of ground force that is transmitted to the body. They should be taken care of since any form of pain will affect the quality of life. Majorly, pain occurs due to injury or a medical condition that causes inflammation of bones, tendons or ligaments.
The possible reasons for foot pain
High heels and poorly fitting shoes
These will exert pressure on the foot resulting in pain. This becomes worse when they are used over an extensive period. Basic remedy is to use well fitting shoes and reduce the use of high heels.
Ingrown toe
This occurs when the side or corner of the toenail grows into the flesh. Besides pain, it also results in swelling and redness. If not taken care of immediately it could lead to infection. Remove it at home, but in case there is no relief, then a medical doctor should be consulted.
Corns
These are the hardened skin that develops on foot. It occurs when the skin tries to protect itself from pressure or friction. Besides being unsightly, they can cause immense pain when the source of pressure is not eliminated.
Mallet toe and hammer toe
These are deformations of the foot that result from an imbalance of tendons, ligaments or muscles. Mallet’s toes affect the joint closest to the nail while the hammer toe affects the middle joint. The toes affected by the deformation are the second, third and fourth toes. This occurs as symptoms of certain illnesses, the structure of the foot which is genetic or the type of shoes that are used. Immediate relief is to change the shoes worn, but severe cases resulting from genetic or symptoms of other illnesses will lead to surgery.
Heel spurs
This is the abnormal growth of the bone at the base of the heel. It occurs as a result of wearing the wrong shoes or abnormal postures. Besides pain relievers, affected people should use heel pad or use shoes that are fitted with shock absorbing soles.
Peripheral neuropathy
Pain occurs when there is damage to the peripheral nerves that sends information from the spinal cord and brain to the other parts of the body. Damage to nerves results from infections, injury, toxins in the body or genetic inheritance. Pain relievers can be prescribed, but for long term solution, the cause of the nerve damage must be addressed.
Arthritis
This is a medical condition that implicates disorder of the joints. Besides pain, arthritis is characterized by swelling, redness and decreased movement.There are so many different types of arthritis, and they can be addressed through medication or surgery. Other lifestyle changes are weight loss and regular exercises.
Gout
This is sudden and severe attacks of pain at the joint of the big toes. Gout is characterized by swelling, redness, and tenderness at the affected area. It is a medical condition that should be handled by a qualified medical practitioner.…
